Equality between women and men: priority for global recovery based on peace, democracy and social justice in the post-pandemic world

Magdalena Garcia, Huairou Governing Council member, MIRA, Mexico, will speak at the Generation Equality Forum Parallel event organized by AFEM – Southern European Women’s Alliance.

The event panelists will discuss a vision for transformative models of socio-economic recovery that recognize the value of economy of care, promote culture of human rights,  especially women and girls’ rights,  as well as democratic participation in public decision making and peace processes as to eliminate gender based violence.

A macro-economic feminist approach to governance is needed to achieve the above goals, recognizing the invaluable contributions of women to the economy. New models need to put the people and care at the centre of development. They need to embrace feminist values of solidarity, inclusion and equality.
