CSW66 Parallel Event ‘TIMES UP! Grassroots-Led Local Financing Strategies Are Central to Scaling Adaptation’
Organised by the Huairou Commission, this event will focus on a dialogue between grassroots women leaders and policy-experts highlighting grassroots-women’s need for flexible/easily accessible resources to strengthen their resilience capacities.
The power of grassroots having access and control funding lies in their ability to support holistic, empowerment based-approach to disaster & climate-resilience. Along with investments in climate-smart activities & leveraging resources to gain government resources to scale-up their practices, how such resources also support collective strategies shifting power-relationships between grassroots-women and other actors.
It’s time for policymakers to take bold-steps putting in place financial and policy-mechanisms that accelerate transformative resilience. The Event will also locate where are the opportunities for institutional-partnerships with grassroots to advance collaborative climate-action; what are the institutional-barriers that must be dismantled to accelerate such action.
