CSW66 Event on “Fostering gender equality and climate action through sustainable urban mobility”

This session, entitled ‘Fostering gender equality and climate action through sustainable urban mobility’ co-organized with UITP and held within the context of the NGO CSW Forum will form one of four different sessions and will bring together local and regional government elected and appointed officials, partners and civil society representatives, to further reflect on the role of local and regional governments and sustainable urban mobility in achieving SDG5, taking stock of the where we stand in 2022, and how we can collaboratively work towards this common agenda towards 2030 and beyond.

The session will be organized as an interactive dialogue. Interventions will be max 3 minutes each to allow for interactive discussions around the following topics:

  1. How can sustainable urban mobility contribute to gender equality and social inclusion?
  2. In line with IWD motto, Gender equality for climate action, what does a women perspective bring to the fight against climate change and in the decarbonization process?
  3. In the context of this year’s High-Level Political Forum, where UCLG and UITP will collaborate again, what are the policy areas related to mobility that will need more attention to ensure SDG5 can be achieved inclusively?

Maite Rodriguez Blandon, from La Red Mujer y Hábitat ALC and member of Huairou’s Governing Council will be speaking in this event.
