DESCRIPTION:The priority theme of the sixty–sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women(CWS66) “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in humansettlements across the world in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster riskreduction policies and programmes ” has strong interactions with the New Urban Agenda, theglobal framework for sustainable urban and human settlements development adopted in theHabitat III Conference in Quito in 2016.\nThe panel will examine the opportunities for accelerating action regarding genderequality and women’s empowerment in human settlements, in the context of the post–pandemic recovery programs, taking into consideration the roadmap established by theGender Resolution of 2019, UN Women new Strategic Plan, and the upcoming review of boththe New Urban Agenda and of SDG5.\n
